The Best Gift

I think it's safe to say that I have the best Daddy in the whole world!
He surprised me with a cradle he made for the baby.

Can you believe he made this?

We are going to paint it white and then ship it to Arizona.
I can't wait to put baby boy in a cradle made for him by his Grandpa Rick!

Nursery Inspiration

I am having so much fun planning baby boy's nursery!
I've been finding a ton of inspiration on Pinterest. Seriously, what did we do before Pinterest? Once I get back from my Norway trip, David and I are planning a trip to Ikea to get the remaining furniture and operation nursery will be in full swing.

Here are some of the pictures I'm using for inspiration...

I can't wait to see it all come together!

The time we ate our way through Vegas...

My birthday always happens to coincide with MLK day, and this year David and I were able to spend a three-day weekend in Las Vegas. It was actually my first trip to Vegas, and I've always heard that everyone needs to visit Las Vegas at least once. One last spontaneous hoopla before we have a baby.

While the strip in itself is over commercialized and "fake," I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed Vegas. Shows, awesome themed hotels, great shopping, amazing food and just so much to do. It wasn't as raunchy as I was expecting. No half naked girls, no strip clubs and no wedding chapels. I realize all of this is very present in Vegas, it just wasn't as "in your face" as I was expecting.

Let's talk about the food. Oh my, the food we had in Vegas was absolutely amazing. I'm pretty sure we gained 5 pounds each this weekend, but it was absolutely worth it.

Some of our favorite restaurants:

Bouchon for brunch. The apple oatmeal and french bread was amazing. Very chic and they had delicious pastries too!

Olives at Bellagio and Mon Ami Gabi for dinner. Both super charming and had delicious food.

Jean Phillipe Patisserie for dessert. Their pistachio gelato is heavenly and the nutella crepes were amazing!

Some pictures from our weekend:

A stop at Hoover Dam.

In two places at once - on the border of Arizona and Las Vegas.

The awesome view from our balcony. (We stayed at the Cosmopolitan)

I think the Venetian was my favorite hotel. I just loved the canal.

Not too many pictures, but I can assure you that we had a great weekend! :)

26 weeks

How far along: 26 weeks
Baby is the size of: An English cucumber
Total weight gain/loss: 8 lbs
Maternity clothes: Maternity pants, but regular tops and dresses.
Stretch marks: No
Sleep: Really good. I'm enjoying it while I can!
Best moment this week: There were a couple days last week when I didn't feel much movement. I was starting to get a little worried, and I was sharing my fears with David. All of a sudden baby boy started kicking and moving like crazy - it's like he knew I needed the reassurance.
Miss Anything: Sleeping on my stomach and my back!
Movement: Yes
Food cravings: Sweets! I've only craved citrus so far, and for the first 15 weeks or so I had absolutely no interest in chocolate. (which is crazy if you know me!) But, all of a sudden this last week all I want is chocolate, candy, cupcakes, ice cream - you name it! I'm trying to practice self-control but it's so haaard! ;)
Anything making you queasy or sick: No
Have you started to show yet: Yes! I love it when random strangers comment on my belly.
Gender: BOY!
Labor Signs: No, but I've had a lot of braxton hicks. At first it freaked me out a little bit, but apparently it's very common.
Belly Button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Happy or Moody: Happy
Looking forward to: My birthday and going to Vegas this weekend!

Getting ready for Baby Boy

I'm 25 weeks today, only 15 weeks to go until my due date. This pregnancy is flying by! I love that random people are starting to notice my bump now. I'm so happy this baby is healthy and growing.

We bought a stroller around Thanksgiving because we found an awesome sale. It's an UPPAbaby Vista and I am in love. Georgia approves.

Baby boy has clothes in his closet! I just love coming in here and looking at all the itty bitty clothes and imagining what he'll look like.

We started working on the nursery last week. David worked so hard and painted the room a sweet baby blue. We also got the crib in, so baby officially has a place to sleep. After looking at countless cribs, I went with a Jenny Lind.

I'm planning on lots of light blue, white and beige for the nursery. I figure in a couple of years everything will be trucks, super heroes and sports, so I'm enjoying decorating the nursery sweet and simple. There's still a lot that needs to be done, but I'm trying to pace myself so that I have something to look forward to these next 15 weeks. :)

A Winter Walk on the Beach

These photos were taken on a walk in Santa Barbara while we were in California over Christmas. I am still kicking myself for not bringing my camera with me, because it was just one of those absolutely gorgeous days at the beach. I managed to snap a couple photos with my phone before the battery died. But, oh how I wish I could have spent hours with my nice camera snapping away.
